Crop Insurance
Rising input costs and uncertainty about next year's crop prices mean more farmers should consider the Supplemental Coverage Option and Enhanced Coverage Option for 2022, said Steve Johnson, retired Iowa State University Extension farm management specialist. December futures for corn and soybeans are running higher than the spring prices for both crops this year, so "farmers ought to be celebrating," added Johnson.

Farmland
Farmers National Co. sold a record amount of farmland during its fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, with the most activity taking place in Iowa, followed by North Dakota, Kansas, and eastern Nebraska, said Randy Dickhut, Farmers National's senior vice president of real estate. Absentee farmland owners are motivated to sell due to high market values, and cropland rated good-to-excellent is netting premium prices, added Dickhut.

Financial
High crop prices and continued government support payments are driving a projected $113 billion in net farm income for 2021, which is nearly a record, according to the USDA's Economic Research Service. The amount also marks a more than doubling of farm income since 2016.

As you probably know there is a shortage of used farm equipment and supplier setbacks which in turn creates elevated used equipment prices. A listener asked on Americana Insurance Groups Insights into Insurance with Tom Sorenson and Aaron Worm on KATE 1450 AM radio broadcast If I had something happen to any of my equipment, would I be covered for the increase in costs? Please take a listen and find out.
