Minnesota is epicenter of catalytic converter thefts in U.S

The Insurance Federation of Minnesota say Minnesota and the Twin Cities are the epicenter of catalytic converter thefts in the United States. According to Mark Kulda at the Insurance Federation of Minnesota catalytic converter thefts are up 425%. The problem is especially acute in the Twin Cities where they are on track to see four thousand catalytic converter thefts this year. Compare that to the forty reported catalytic converters in 2018. While California leads the nation for total number of converter thefts the insurance institute of Minnesota notes the highest risk of thefts is in the Twin Cities area. The most popular vehicles to have converters stolen are the Toyota Prius followed by the Mitsubishi Endeavor and the Outlander. The insurance Institute recommends a few tips to prevent the thefts, either installing a theft prevention device or marking the converter with your VIN or license plate number can help prevent the theft and sale of the converters.
